DESCRIPTION:

The Colca Canyon, with its impressive drop, is considered as the deepest in the world and can easily be observed between the villages of Pinchollo and Cabanaconde. On the other hand, it is the habitat of the Andean condors; the world´s largest flying birds.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: AREQUIPA (ARRIVAL)

Reception, transfer to your hotel and free time for other activities.

DAY 2: AREQUIPA - YANQUE

In the morning, we´ll set off to the village of Yura, where we´ll be able to observe changes in the ecological levels, as well as in the flora and fauna. We´ll pass by the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we´ll observe Andean animals like vicuñas, alpacas, llamas, birds, etc. In addition, we´ll be able to contemplate the Huarancante snow-capped mountains, volcanoes like the Chucura, Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca, as well as the Chila Cordillera and the snow-covered Mismi. Finally, we´ll get to Yanque, where we´ll spend the night at an inn.

DAY 3: YANQUE - TAPAY

Early, we´ll set off to the Cruz del Cóndor´s Vantage Point, where we´ll be able to appreciate the condors´ flight (if the weather allows). Our trek will start from Pampa San Miguel, going down to the Colca River, crossing hanging bridges and passing by typical places, with their flora and fauna. In Tapay, we´ll spend the night at the local inn.

DAY 4: TAPAY - SANGALLE

We´ll go on with our excursion, visiting some Andean villages and archeological remains of the Wari culture and we´ll spend the night in typical huts of the Sangalle area; a valley with temperate waters.

DAY 5: SANGALLE - AREQUIPA

Today, we´ll go up to the village of Cabanaconde, from where we´ll move on to Chivay. Later on, we´ll board the bus back to the city of Arequipa. Transfer to your hotel to spend the night.

DAY 6: AREQUIPA (DEPARTURE)

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport and/or bus station.
